THE Banquet at Zaika looks like something from a Homer Simpson-esque dream about a curry feast. It's a table packed full of eye-wateringly tasty Indian food with so many dishes you won't know where to dip your fork first.
After the poppadoms and chutneys, the team bring out four starters and four mains, plus your accompaniments of pilau rice and naan. Then you settle back for a culinary excursion into the East you'll remember with a happy smile for months to come.
There's a meaty banquet and a veggie banquet. They both have menus about a mile long.
The meat one includes poppadoms and chutney, chicken tikka, sheekh kebab, onion bhaji, fish Amritsari, chicken do piazza, chooza makhani, saag gosht, karahi fish, sabz-e-bahar, pilau rice and naan bread.
The veggie one includes poppadoms and chutneys, onion bhaji, vegetable samosa, paneer tikka, aloo chana puri, mixed vegetable bhuna, karahi matter paneer, saag aloo, daal makhani, raita, naan and pilau rice.
It's a lot of food but don't assume they're going for quantity over quality – Zaika has a stellar reputation for serving up carefully-prepared, distinctive Indian cuisine. The banquet is no exception.
It costs just £17.95 for all the above. To see the full menu for the meat banquet and the vegetarian banquet, click here.
