KALEIDO restaurant and bar high up in the National Football Museum is one of our favourite spots for city centre escapism.

Executive chef Paul Riley has created and fine-tuned a menu swimming with superb dishes

Take the lift up from the Museum and leave the rest of Manchester behind for a while. You'll find food that's determined to steal some of the attention away from that view. Executive chef Paul Riley has created and fine-tuned a menu swimming with superb dishes.

His personal favourite from the a la carte menu is the Caramelised duck breast, spiced aubergine puree, sweet potato confit and piquant jus. He names the Warm apple and almond cake with toasted almond ice cream as his top tip for a dessert.

You're welcome to drop by for just a pud, if you please. Kaleido also has an express menu, a Sunday lunch menu, and 'haute dogs' in the bar. Gourmet hot dogs, of course.

It's a lovely place for drinks as well as food. The cocktails, served in the sixth floor bar, are made with skill and flair. Head there for a shopping break or a glamorous start to your night out.
