AFTER a small hiatus last year that saw the Sankey’s troop bugger off to their parish in the Balearics, throw on togas and dance until their toes went a strange gamboge colour and started shouting at them (or at least they thought they had), they’ve now rolled back into the city that has housed them for the past two decades.
The sweaty Ancoats dance cave, which a few years back scooped DJ magazine’s ‘Best Club in the World’, beating away competition from the likes of Ministry of Sound in London and Ibiza’s Pacha, also saw in the opening of a transatlantic branch in the Garment District of New York last year.

Sankeys, which has previously drafted in the likes of Daft Punk, Moby, The Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox and Swedish House Mafia to perform in Manchester, features the main basement room equipped with an LED light system and ear-slapping Phazon soundsystem, the smaller Spektrum room, an outdoor terrace and a bar with attached cinema.
