70 organisations from Team (MIPIM) MCR, including City Council chief executive Sir Howard Bernstein, will join over 20,000 delegates and 2000 exhibitors from 93 countries at the world's largest property market event in Cannes from 10-13 March.
Manchester, alongside representatives from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Hamburg and Stockholm, will become the focus of the prestigious 'European Cities' event which will centre around the 'leading powerhouses of the future'
MIPIM (Le marché international des professionnels de l'immobilier - catchy), now in its 26th year, is a four day convention in the south of France in which local authorities, developers, investors and global property big-swingers meet to drink champagne, broker major deals and fall off yachts.
2015 will see the largest delegation Manchester has ever put together, with 24 new organisations including Russells, Capita and Jones Lang LaSalle joining the old guard like PWC and Airport City to show (and sell) the world the best of Manchester's upcoming projects including the new £235m Sir Henry Royce Institute and the £75m Factory Manchester culture centre in the City Council and Allied London's joint £1bn St John's Quarter masterplan.
Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council, said:
“Our activity at MIPIM is vital to the city’s development and with the sheer number of partners on board this year, we have a solid expression of the growing confidence and ambitions for Manchester.
With such a variety of private sector support, this is a perfect opportunity to celebrate our achievements and also prepare for the infrastructure opportunities and challenges that will determine the city’s future.”
Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, the agency responsible for coordinating the city’s presence at MIPIM, said:
"Not only does the city have support from a wide number of highly valued, returning businesses; it has also attracted 24 new organisations to the partnership, which can only strengthen its position at this major destination showcase."
Manchester, alongside representatives from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Hamburg and Stockholm, will become the focus of the prestigious 'European Cities' prime time event which will centre around the 'leading powerhouses of the future' (2pm on Tuesday 10 March).
The Manchester stand sessions take place at 10.30 and 15.30 each day (09.30 and 14.30 GMT) and can be streamed live here.
