AFTER 26 years and 38 pieces of silverware, Sir Alex received an almighty send-off from an army of adoring fans. With thousands upon thousands braving the biblical storms earlier in the evening that threatened to quite literally, rain on the parade, the departing boss accompanied by his Championship winning squad looked visibly moved by the turnout.

Deansgate scaffolding engulfedFour generations of fans hung from every possible vantage point they could clamber up. Bus stops, scaffolding, lampposts, trees and phone boxes were all utilised as the bus crawled along the route from Old Trafford to Albert Square.
The atmosphere was euphoric as the team bus rolled in to the square around 7.45pm, smoke billowing from red flares swathed the square in a United hue.

As the press enclosure was engulfed by rampaging fans, Glory, Glory Man United echoed around the square in what was a truly glorious night for the departing Sir Alex and his men.
