Mick, Keith and Ronnie will play 14 dates in Europe and UK this summer
The Rolling Stones have announced details of a 60th anniversary tour hitting the UK and Europe this summer, including the band’s first Liverpool show in more than 50 years.
Anfield is more than a stadium. It brings with it a great history and arguably the greatest atmosphere of any venue in the world.
Having teased fans with the prospect of a new album this year, The Rolling Stones have now confirmed that the band will be heading out on the road this summer to celebrate six decades together. The 60th anniversary tour is billed simply as Sixty, and launches in Madrid on 1 June, before hitting the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Austria, France and Sweden.
The Rolling Stones made the UK tour announcement this morning, writing, “The Stones just keep on rolling! We are thrilled to announce the Rolling Stones 2022 Tour! Titled SIXTY to celebrate 60 special years together - Mick, Keith and Ronnie will be playing dates across Europe this summer, including two shows at London’s BST Hyde Park.”
The Rolling Stones will kick off the UK leg of their 60th anniversary tour at Anfield Stadium on Thursday June 9, 2022. The Anfield gig is one of just three UK shows, with dates at Hyde Park in London on 25 June and 3 July. In a classic head to head, The Stones will play at Hyde Park on the same night that Beatles legend Paul McCartney headlines Glastonbury Festival.
Some of the biggest acts in the world have performed at Anfield, and it's not hard to see why. Take That came to Anfield Stadium in 2019 as part of their 30-year greatest hits anniversary tour. The same year also saw live shows from Bon Jovi and Pink. Anfield has already confirmed gigs from Elton John and The Eagles in 2022.
The Rolling Stones concert at Anfield will be the first time the rock and roll legends have gigged in Liverpool since 1971, when they played The Empire on the Goodbye Britain UK Tour.
Bill Wyman left the band in 1993, citing “a lot of pressure” as the reason. Charlie Watts died in August 2021 at the age of 80. An inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame, Charlie is often regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time.
The current line-up of Mick Jagger (78), Keith Richards (78) and Ronnie Wood (74) - once again joined by Steve Jordan on the drums - will treat fans on the Sixty Tour to a setlist packed full of classics such as Satisfaction, Paint It Black, Tumbling Dice, Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter, and many other surprises from half a century’s worth of hits.
Richards said in a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview that the band is currently working on new music. The Rolling Stones last released new original material in 2005 with the album, A Bigger Bang.
As always when The Rolling Stones come to town, they will bring an incredible production and state-of-the-art stage design.

Tickets for the show will go on general sale at 10am GMT on Friday March 18 via Liverpool FC. Liverpool FC season ticket holders, official members, official supporters’ clubs, hospitality members and those on the LFC Events Mailing List will be included in the pre-sale from 12pm on Wednesday March 16.
