Mad March. The beginning of spring and the month when animals (and humans) begin to wake from hibernation. JAMAICA MAKING | VICTORIA GALLERY & MUSEUM | UNTIL 9 JULY
The first exhibition of wholly Jamaican art to be displayed in North-West England will feature more than 30 artworks from the extensive collection of Jamaican-born entrepreneur and philanthropist Theresa Roberts. Jamaica Making: The Theresa Roberts Art Collection has been curated by Dr Emma Roberts of LJMU. A special satellite exhibition will be hosted in the university’s John Lennon Art & Design Building featuring the work of Desanna Watson, whose artwork is about the impact of colonisation in Jamaica.

THE RUBY TEARS | LEAF BOLD STREET | FRIDAY 4 MARCH
A fundraiser for James’ Place, a charity with a mission to stop men dying from suicide. Who are The Ruby Tears? Think Mark E. Smith fronting Gang of Four and you have an inkling of what this band is about. The post-punk noise psych outfit features members of The Common Cold, Big Red Bus, Notnowkato, Evil Blizzard and The Dandelion Adventure. Alongside The Ruby Tears comes support from Ginnel and Modern Marriage.

DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME | BRITISH MUSIC EXPERIENCE | 4 MARCH - 25 SEPTEMBER
The new temporary exhibition at the BME has a focus on Scottish artists. With the help of Scottish music expert, Ronnie Gurr, a collection has been curated which includes a number of iconic pieces such as Midge Ure’s Burberry coat from the video to Vienna by Ultravox and the coat and guitar he wore and played at Live Aid. You can also see Sharleen Spiteri's leather Tom Ford "Elvis" suit worn in the Inner Smile video.

CHERRY JEZEBEL | EVERYMAN THEATRE | 8-26 MARCH
Unapologetically Northern and Queer, Cherry Jezebel shines a light on Liverpool’s LGBTQIA+ scene. It’s a story about the glitter and grit of drag in Liverpool, about chosen family, belonging and survival. A riot of lipstick and split lips, of bitching and bruises set in the boudoirs and bathrooms of Liverpool’s gloriously gobby drag scene. It’s a play that celebrates queerness, while spilling the tea on the pain behind the polish. A frank and hilarious piece of new writing from Jonathan Larkin - regular Hollyoaks writer and long-time Everyman collaborator. Mickey Jones steals the show as the captivating Cherry Brandy - a real icon. Get ready for a night out in Gay Town that you'll never forget.

THE ALTERNATIVE BLACK CABARET SHOWCASE | ROYAL COURT | THURSDAY 10 MARCH
The Black is back! In partnership with Boisterous Theatre Co, bringing the biggest names and the freshest acts from around the globe - Liverpool, Los Angeles, Lafta Republic and Oldham. Resident host Che B introduces this month’s line-up, with Dana Alexander, Erika Ehler, and Sarah Levine. Comedy, music and specialist turns along with Black Bingo and a raffle. There's even a token white act for diversity thrown in too.

SCOUSE REPUBLIC | OUTPUT GALLERY | 10 MARCH - 10 APRIL
Kiara Mohamed is a Somali, queer, trans multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Liverpool. This exhibition takes the viewer on a journey through trauma, towards radical possibilities for healing. Film element explores the role Liverpool has played in this journey - in particular its green spaces and abundance of wildlife. The Princes Park heron appears as a totem of self-care, a mythical reinterpretation of the Liver Bird.

THE MYSTERINES | PHASE ONE | MONDAY 14 MARCH
Phase One’s series of stripped back acoustic shows is pulling in some blinders, with shows from Twin Atlantic, Feeder, and alt-J on the bill in the coming weeks. Merseyside's rising stars, The Mysterines, stop off at Jacaranda Records for a very special intimate acoustic hometown show to celebrate the release of their debut album, Reeling.

ST PATRICK’S DAY | PINS SOCIAL CLUB | 17-19 MARCH
St Patrick’s celebrations begin at midday on 17 March with a party up on The Roof and a rustic Guinness Bar, a Jameson’s cocktail menu, live bands and house DJs. The weekend gets into full flow on Friday with happy hour from 5pm-7pm, followed by “Get Lucky” - a special St Patrick’s Friday Night Social. Super Saturday is a day of Rugby, when Ireland will be taking on Scotland on the final day of the 2022 Six Nations Championships. Stick around for parade night, featuring live music, plus dancers and performers on the runway.

LEISURE LAND LAUNCH | INVISIBLE WIND FACTORY | FRIDAY MARCH 18
The guys behind The Kazimier Club and Kaz Garden come at you with Leisureland - an immersive new world of games, music and good times which even has its own currency called Scruples. This is a brand-new and unique journey into a sprawling arcade of games, karaoke bars and dance floors at Invisible Wind Factory. Artists include Intergalactic Karaoke Band, Twindependent Women and Dogshow on the Main Stage and Eris and Nay in the Sub Station. This is the first show of many which will continue into 2022.

Stormzy finally brings the H.I.T.H. world tour to Liverpool. Heavy Is The Head marked a landmark record for the multi award-winning phenomenon; produced entirely by Stormzy himself, showcasing his world class lyricism and musicality. A showman like no other, known for evolving the underground musical landscape, as well as being a perennial political agitator, this will be a show like no other.

Liverpool's original, biggest and baddest alternative drag dinner cabaret and club night. This month it’s the Fame Edition, exploring celebrity culture past, present and future. Hosted by Alice Rabbit and Auntie Climax, expect red carpets, paparazzi, glitz and glamour, with games, games and more games. Disco duties courtesy of DJ Dollman Disco and a three-course meal option from the amazing Guac n Roll Kitchen (£10). Expect fine dining, cabaret, drag and dancing.

Positive Vibration has been bringing a host of reggae and dub heavyweights to Liverpool. One of the most exciting & high energy live bands on the circuit, Dub Pistols blend reggae, ska, dub, punk, breaks and drum ‘n’ bass. Support on the night comes from KIOKO and Dub Defender DJs.

EDDIE KILTY'S COLLECTIVE DINNER | CITY OF LIVERPOOL COLLEGE | TUESDAY 29 MARCH
Join Eddie Kilty and some of the city's finest chefs as they cook alongside students from Liverpool College to create a special dinner. Featuring Josh Lundon from Skaus, Liv Alarcon from Queens, Nathan Booth of Panoramic 34 and Michael O'Donohoe from London Carriage Works. The event will be hosted by Liam Jones of An Hour With An Indie and proceeds from ticket sales will go to So Let’s Talk, a platform which aims to support hospitality workers with all aspects of mental, physical and financial health.
