Albert's Schloss will occupy two floors of Radiant House

The team behind Rudy’s Pizza and Albert’s Schenke has been given the green light to open a new food hall, cook haus and bier palace on Liverpool’s Bold Street.

Radiant House was the former home of Liverpool Gas Company and a building that quite literally lit up Liverpool

The plans to convert Radiant House into a multi-storey bar and restaurant were approved by Liverpool City Council’s planning committee this week, along with further transformations across retail units in the ground floor, basement, mezzanine and first floor areas.

The plans for the new development come from Mission Mars, an award-winning multi concept operator based in Manchester.

Mission Mars currently operates two branches of Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza in Liverpool at Castle Street and Bold Street, with a third set to open at Royal Albert Dock. In 2019, Mission Mars acquired the grade II-listed Casartelli Building on Hanover Street and converted it into Albert’s Schenke.

Opening in Autumn 2022, Albert’s Schloss Liverpool will be the sister site to the flagship Albert's Schloss - housed on the ground floor of Manchester's historic Albert Hall - and Albert’s Schloss Birmingham, occupying One Chamberlain Square.

The ground floor at 18-26 Bold Street was last occupied by LIV Organic. The healthy living store and cafe suddenly closed in January 2020.

Radiant House was the former home of The Liverpool Gas Company and a building that quite literally lit up Liverpool. The impressive, art-deco building dominates the street and back in its gas company days was a community hub with showrooms, a lecture theatre, roof gardens, tea-rooms and dining suites.

Albert’s Schloss Liverpool will restore the 1,000 square-foot glazed atrium while installing a large stage, green room, two large bars, an artisan bakery, a fresh tank beer system and restaurant dining for more than 500 guests.

The first floor will be home to Ludwig’s Tavern, offering artisan Schnapps, a vermouth bar, shuffleboard and other Tavern games. There are also plans for a roof top terrace and a large open air Biergarten around the back.

Work will start shortly on the site and it is set to open in the autumn. The new site will also create 200 jobs, with recruitment currently underway for a variety of positions.
