Santorini-inspired restaurant to add to growing foodie hotspot
A Greek restaurant inspired by the colours and culinary atmosphere of Santorini is set to open on Castle Street on Thursday (3 April).
Zeus Taverna will open at 44 Castle Street, promising to bring a taste of the sun-kissed Mediterranean to Liverpool city centre.
With a menu of traditional Greek dishes including souvlaki, moussaka and kleftiko, there will also be a selection of Mediterranean fresh seafood including octopus, mussels and prawns.

A spokesperson for Zeus Taverna said: “The refurbishment was both enjoyable and hard. We spent a lot of time on the decor making sure each part represents a part of Greece. For example, the texture and structure of the walls represent the architecture of Santorini and other islands.
“The hand paintings of gods and goddesses were our way to appreciate Greek mythology. The floral decoration was also carefully picked to complement the features. We picked quartz for the tables and the bar as it's a natural stone and the blue represents the sea.
“We are so grateful for all the team that helped bring our vision to light and are very excited to finally open to the public this week after facing a couple of setbacks throughout our journey to get to this stage. Just like our decoration, we have carefully selected 15 new dishes to add to our traditional Greek menu.”

As well as its menu being inspired by the cuisine of the holiday island, the decor of Zeus Taverna also draws from the whitewashed walls and turquoise blues of traditional Greek tavernas.
Alongside floral decorations the interiors also nod to Greece’s ancient mythology with murals of gods and goddesses.
