The shopping centre will welcome the new pop-up store with a series of crafting workshops this autumn
This Autumn, Metquarter will welcome a new pop-up. A joint venture between ReNew Furniture Homeware Décor and Childwall Emporium, the new store will offer upcycled, vintage furniture and home décor alongside arts and crafts workshops and classes.
The ReNew PopUp will be located on the ground floor of the shopping centre and is set to open its doors on Saturday 4 October, just in time for those seasonal home refreshes and Christmas gifting.
Customers can browse a collection of upcycled and vintage furniture as well as home decor from other indie businesses while Childwall Emporium will be hosting a series of independent arts and crafts workshops throughout autumn and winter.
Highlights include:
Paint and Sip
Childwall Emporium will host a series of Paint and Sip nights which will take place within the centre’s food court, Victoria Street Collective. The first in the Paint and Sip series will be on Friday 24 October with a Liver Bird theme to honour the city’s official symbol. On Saturday 13 December, there will be a Christmas themed Paint and Sip evening for guests to get into the festive spirit.
Suitable for all skill levels, each participant will be provided with their own pre-drawn canvas, and all the paint and materials needed to complete their artwork. Experienced artists will guide attendees through the process, giving hints and tips throughout the night. Throughout the night food and drink can be ordered from any of the Victoria Street Collective restaurants and bars.
Tickets are priced at £30pp and can be booked here.
Lampshade Making
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to design and craft a bespoke lampshade from scratch. Taking place on Sunday 26 October at the ReNew PopUp, participants will be introduced to the simple techniques and tools required to make a 20cm drum lampshade.
The workshop is a comfortable pace and is welcome to all skill levels. All materials are provided but attendees may wish to bring their own fabric if they want to create a custom piece.
Tickets for the workshop can be booked here and are priced at £40 pp.
Furniture Painting
Taking place on Saturday 22 November, guests are invited to come along to Childwall Emporium’s furniture painting class to learn how to upcycle their own piece of furniture and give pre-loved pieces a new lease of life. Learn how to prep your furniture, what paint can and should be used, how to use effective brush strokes for certain effects, what to use to finish your furniture and how to use waxes and lacquer.
After the workshop, attendees can treat themselves and take advantage of the limited opportunity for 10% off all upcycling products in the ReNew PopUp shop on the day of the class.
Tickets for the workshop can be booked here and are priced at £40 pp.
Further workshops will be going live over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out on the Childwall Emporium website.
