Ellis Barrie says they're really happy to have won the award
There was both celebration and reflection as the winners of the fourth annual British Restaurant Awards were announced live at the Porchester Hall in London last night.
The team who attended the ceremony had a great night, it was good to see them representing Lerpwl down in London.
A number of Merseyside restaurants were in the running for the award, but it was Lerpwl who took home the prize for Best Restaurant in Liverpool.
Members of the Lerpwl team attended the event and collected the award on behalf of the restaurant.
Ellis Barrie, chef owner of Lerpwl at Royal Albert Dock said, “We are really happy to have won this award, it means a lot to have been nominated and then voted winners by the public.
"I guess it's a bit of further reassurance that our guests like what we offer and that they enjoy the dining experience they have at Lerpwl. The team who attended the ceremony had a great night, it was good to see them representing Lerpwl down in London.”
The win for the Lerpwl team comes a week after food critic Jay Rayner penned a disappointing review for the restaurant in last Sunday's edition of The Observer.
