DAME Judi Dench has won Oscars and awards galore. She is also a staunch Evertonian.
Now she has landed the ultimate role from her favourite football club.
No, not a job as a Toffee Lady, but honorary patron of EFC's official charity, Everton in the Community.
The multi award-winning actress, who has been famed for her role as M in the James Bond films since 1995, has accepted an ambassadorial role for and will use her high profile stature to promote the work of the charity.
Humbling
She said: “I was truly honoured to be offered the chance to become involved in such a special charity and at my football club. I am excited to be able to represent a charity which continues to push social boundaries and help so many people across Merseyside and beyond.
“The work the staff undertake on a daily basis is humbling and an inspiration to us all,” she added.
The actress will take up her latest role immediately at the charity, which in the last year has scooped national and international recognition for its work.
Bill KenwrightAfter losing her husband, the actor Michael Williams, to lung cancer in 2001, Dame Judi became the patron of Women Against Lung Cancer, a campaign of the Roy Castle Lung Foundation.
