Tis the sea-son for fish and chips (obvs), cocktails and free comedy
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside. Apart from those damn seagulls, they can piss right off. This summer, Royal Albert Dock is bringing the Great British seaside to its waterfront. From pastel striped bunting and giant deckchairs, to chip cones and ice cream tubs to buoy our spirits, this seaside experience has never looked so good.
Lerpwl are taking the flavours of the seaside to a whole new level with a ten course tasting menu
Visitors can head to Anchor or Mermaid Courtyard for a selfie in one of the giant deckchairs and enjoy special menus from the dock restaurants and bars. Pick up a chip cone from award-winning Docklands Fish & Chips or Cajun popcorn shrimp from Revolution, or get a sweet fix with a tub of Italian-style gelato from Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen.
A coastal jaunt wouldn’t be complete without sampling the catch of the day, and the dock’s resident seafood specialists, Lerpwl, are taking the flavours of the seaside to a whole new level.
Taking place across two sittings on Thursday 5 August, Ellis Barrie and his team will host a five or ten course tasting menu for lunch or dinner showcasing the freshest seafood around. It will be paired with local, seasonal produce, with 10% of the food bill going to the Fishermen's Mission charity.

Family-friendly activities include Canal & River Trust’s Wellbeing Weekender from 20-22 August, featuring a whole host of water-based activities, boat trips and much more.
Turncoat Bar has a new summer programme including boss pizza, summer cocktails, gin tastings and new gin launches. Even better than a traditional end-of-the-pier show, Turncoat will be bringing a whole lot of laughs to the dock with its new free monthly comedy nights, launching on August 8.
Comedy @ Turncoat is a monthly comedy event showcasing some of the best comedy acts in the UK and the first line-up includes resident MC Katie Tracey plus performances from Phil Chapman, Rob Thomas & Hannah Platt. Free tickets from Eventbrite.
After a day in the sunshine, a drink from the sundowner cocktail list will be the perfect way to cool down. The coconut island mojito from Rosa’s Thai, gin sour from One O’Clock Gun, and the “L8 Hold Up” from The Long Shot are just some of our faves.
As a finale to the seaside celebrations, the dock will be putting the spotlight on the ultimate summer wine by hosting its first ever "Rosé Festival" on August bank holiday, with more details to be announced over the coming weeks.
