ON a day that Le Bateau announced its closure, it is worth remembering that all music venues have their moments.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Citadel, in St Helens, was the place to be, attracting bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans and Inspiral Carpets on a regular basis. People travelled from miles around.
St Helens also spawned many of its own acts who got their first break there, such as Johnny Vegas and the wonderful Poisoned Electrick Head.
Tomorrow night PEH return to the Citadel, after more than 15 years since their last show there. With a new line-up and new album, people are travelling from as far away as Ireland to say they were there.
If you've ever withessed the PEH live rock-shock experience, then you'll know how unmissable this event will be. Their gigs were riotous, bathed in lights and spectacular.

Android 80 claims to be a one-man electronic cyborg experience; half human, half machine, powered by the analogue soul of 80s synth-pop and genetically altered by exposure to Kraftwerk and early Human League. If you remember the 80s, you remember these electronic odysseys well.
