IAN McCulloch is to open the former Neptune Theatre with two acoustic shows next week.
The Echo and the Bunnymen frontman will joined on stage by Ian Broudie who also produced the Bunnymen's big hit albums, to perform a selection of new material and old favourites.
The Epstein Theatre, taken over by Dave Pichiling's Liverpool Sound City, will open its doors to the public next Thursday (May 10).
The shows lead up to the release of McCulloch’s fourth solo album, Pro Patria Mori, and he will be showcasing songs from it along with classic Bunnymen numbers.
Ian BroudieThe newly refurbished 350 seat Epstein Theatre, on Hanover Street, has undergone a £1m refurbishment and will officially launch with a VIP party on May 9. Sound City says it plans to use the building to showcase cutting edge art and pop culture events ranging from drama productions to art exhibitions, and also aim to ensure the Epstein can be utilised by community groups from across the city.
Ian McCulloch said “It’s an honour to be asked to open the venue named after Brian Epstein. The new album is one of the greatest things I’ve ever done.”
