Want to know what's on in Liverpool? Confidentials has got you covered. Here are some things next month (that are actually worth going to)
Dust off your magical carpet and fly over to St Helens Theatre Royal for Regal Entertainments' spectacular rendition of Aladdin. Join Aladdin as he battles evil Abanazer to save the day and win the heart of his love, Princess Jasmine.
This panto is guaranteed to provide plenty of laughs, both for the kids and the adults.
Float away with ethereal, emotional soundtracks by North Yorkshire-born artist Billie Marten. Billie's critically acclaimed debut album, Writing of Blues and Yellows (2016), features quietly beautiful songs which she wrote and released at just 17 years old. After lockdown, Billie felt empowered to experiment, with lyrics that explore the topics of nature, mental health, relationships and a general voyeurism on the world as she sees it.
Bongo's Bingo: Step Into Christmas
Jonny Bongo will be leading the Step Into Christmas specials over at CONTENT, featuring plenty of Elton John's classic hits to get everyone up on their feet dancing along. Expect Christmas bangers, ridiculous prizes, bingo (it wouldn't be Bongo's Bingo without it now, would it?) and a special guest appearance from Heather Small of M People.
Dig out your glitziest outfits and fluffiest feather boas. Bongo's is going BIG this Christmas.
Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Boxing Day House Party
Burn off that Christmas dinner with a proper boogie at Craig Charles' Boxing Day House Party. Listen and dance along as Craig rifles through his extensive record collection to bring you the best bangers of past and present. There's support from DJ Paulette and more expert record spinners, too.
Doggy Brunch at Nova Scotia
Your pooch will think Christmas has come early with this exciting brunch at Mann Island. With food and drink for each adult, plus a free meal for their canine companion too, there's bound to be plenty of waggy tails in the room. Each paying adult will receive a breakfast brioche and a warm or soft drink, whilst pups are given a doggie breakfast and pupachino.
Duke Street Markets Christmas
Whether you like spending your Christmas getting crafty, cosying up with a festive film, or reading stories to get into the holiday spirit, you can do it all at Duke Street Markets. Designed to keep both adults and kids happy, there's a whole host of activities available for booking onto including Santa's Stories and Wreath Making.
Jazz Saturdays 2023 finale
Send 2023 off with a bang with the Perri Alleyne-Hughes Ensemble. Joined by Roger Gardiner on double bass, Alan Kaishin Crawford on guitar and vocals, and Viktor Nordberg on drums, you can expect a delightful mix of jazz infused with Latin and blues (plus the occasional sprinkle of rock). As always, this event is free to attend.
Liverpool Gin Festival
Can you hear the Gin-gle bells? We can.
Liverpool Gin Festival is back with even more hanpicked Craft Gins from around the world to show off. Split into three sessions, the event will be accompanied by live entertainment and a buzzing atmosphere as per. Sample and buy your favourites by the glass, bottle, or case. After all, it is Christmas.
The Scouse Dick Whittington
Heads up: This one isn't for the kiddies, so make sure you leave them at home with the grandparents.
Join Dick as he tries to become Lord Mayor of Liverpool, beating King Rat to get his hands on that big, gold chain. From the team that brought you The Scouse Cinderella, The Scouse Snow White, and The Scouse Jack & The Beanstalk, it was only right for them to give this fairytale a go, too.
Remember, Santa won't stop if he can't see your stocking hung on the fireplace. Better paint it a bright colour then, eh?
Head down to Revolution Albert Dock and get ready for the season of giving by creating your own, personalised stocking.
