Eurovision is finally upon us, with the semi-finals airing in just four days!
Liverpool is set to be a hub of activity over the coming weeks, from live music events with local and European artists, to art installations and everything in between, you'll be stuck for choice on what to do and see.
However, with the event of the year kicking off here on our doorstep, we thought we'd provide you with our top 20 alternative events happening in the city to celebrate the song contest, especially if you didn't get an eye-wateringly expensive ticket to sit and watch the show at the M&S arena.
Eurovision Village
Opening on Friday 5th May and running every day until the Grand Final on 13th May, the Eurovision Village will offer a mix of incredible one-off shows, live performances, DJ sets and special guest appearances. The village is set to be the main hub for fans and locals to soak up the celebratory atmosphere of the Eurovision Song Contest.
A unique area – Discover Ukraine – will be dedicated to celebrating Ukrainian creatives, with a whole range of European food and drink on offer across the site.

Euro Love at Love Lane
Love Lane Brewery are bringing the party to you with a range of events including drag queens, bottomless brunches, and live screenings. Starting with a life drawing and drag act session in the loft this Saturday, 6th May, with all materials provided as well as cabaret, food, drink and a good old dance, there's something for everyone.
The excitement ramps up further on Wednesday 10th May with a lip-sync battle and a drag roast and a second semi-final drag screening on Thursday 11th May. On 12th May, the bar and restaurant will also be hosting a Eurovision quiz with drag queen, Nana Funk.
On Saturday 13th May it’s going to be a proper party with a drag brunch during the day before drag legend, Filla Crack, hosts our screening of the Eurovision Grand Final.

Live screenings at the Club House
The Club House invites you to soak up the atmosphere with Eurovision live screenings on the 9th, 11th, and 13th May.
Eurovision semi-final screenings can be enjoyed from inside or outside the venue with live music playing from 4pm, ice cold drinks, garden games and more. With the grand final screening promising to have live music all day, and a larger than life outdoor screen for optimal viewing.

Eurotrash at Golf Fang
At Golf Fang crazy golf, the team are offering up Eurotrash, a round of golf and unique Eurovision themed cocktail for £17pp. They'll also be offering a specially curated menu of five other Eurovision themed cocktails during the week of events including 'Making your mind up' and 'Waterloo' for £8.

Euro Club at Camp and Furnace
With events starting from the 5th May, Camp and Furnace are hosting a variety of club nights and events to celebrate Eurovision as the official venue for Organisation des Amateurs de l’Eurovision (OGAE) - the Eurovision fan club. Live screenings will be held on the 9th, 11th and 13th. Other Euro Club events include live performances from previous Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra on the 6th May, and X-Factor favourites, Jedward on the 11th May.

Abba tribute act at Concert Square
Concert Square will see iconic Abba tribute, Abba Forever, perform on the 7th and 13th May as well as other live performances and acts throughout the day. Developed by the teams at MODO and Soho bars, there will be a pop-up stage, lighting, sound and visual dressing to bring the space to life.

Bongo's Bingo Eurovision Special
Two previous UK Eurovision winners are performing live at Content, for a big Bongo's Bingo Eurovision special, a day before the big final itself, 12th May. Jonny Bongo and the team will be welcoming an exclusive Liverpool weekend performance from The Fizz – previously known as Buck’s Fizz – with Katrina formerly of Katrina & The Waves starring too, in an all out Bongo’s Bingo-inspired party of maximum confetti, colour and chaos as the world’s eyes fall upon the city. There are two further Bongo’s Bingo shows during the Eurovision build up, on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th May.

Liverpool Gin Distillery - United In Gin
Liverpool Gin Distillery are releasing their very own gin to celebrate Eurovision, 'United In Gin'. Featuring lemon and thyme, this gin is bursting with citrus flavours from the finest botanicals. Handcrafted in traditional copper stills in the distillery on Castle Street.
£10 from every bottle sold will be donated to Ukrainian charities.
The venue will also be hosting a viewing party for the Grand Final on the 13th May, as pre-celebration on the 12th with DJ Neil Walsh playing all the Eurovision favourites from 8pm till late.

You're A Vision week at Albert Schloss
Albert Schloss will have a week of non-stop showtime performances from Liverpool and beyond's finest musicians, cabaret stars, DJ's, singers and promenaders. Kicking off on the 8th May, the restaurant has a variety of European themed events from Abba tributes to a variety of Eurovision inspired foods.

Free pizza and Eurovision hits at Mean Eyed Cat
Mean Eyed cat is celebrating the song contest with Eurovision hits playing through the week and by giving customers a variety of free pizzas, including their song contest inspired '12 points to' special. They'll also be hosting a fancy dress night for the Grand Final.

Frederick's Cover Me in Disco Eurovision Special
Fredericks will be hosting a special Eurovision edition of their weekly 'Cover Me In Disco' event, with disco classics performed live from 8pm till late on the 13th May to celebrate the Grand Final.

Euro Disco at Mamasan
Mamasan's rooftop garden presents Euro Disco. Late night entertainment running from the 4th May till the 13th May for the Grand Final. Acts include DJ's John Dean, Tara B and Sean Furlong playing Eurovision and disco hits through to the early hours.
Accompanied by Sax, Bongos and other live entertainment the nights are sure to be a unique way to celebrate Eurovision coming to town.

Live screening at the Baltic Market
The Baltic Market is set to host a huge viewing party for the Grand Final, complete with two giany 14ft by 8ft screens for optimal watching.
There will be live music throughout the entire week, as well as three limited edition Eurovision-themed cocktails, a special Ukrainian flag coloured slush, with a £1 from each sale going towards a Ukrainian charity. Sharing platters and a variety of other food will be available from resident traders.

The Beatles Story, Fab4 Cafe, and Jacaranda collaboration
Two of Liverpool’s iconic Beatles locations have teamed up to celebrate local music and deliver an exciting lineup of free live music events in the lead up to Eurovision. Visitors can expect to hear a diverse lineup of acts, with some Beatles and Eurovision classics thrown in. The events will be hosted at The Fab4 Café, which evokes the spirit of the 1960s, and is located at The Beatles Story at Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock.

Live screenings and Ukrainian dishes at Panam
Decked out for the occasion, and also offering up unique dishes by Ukrainian chef, Olia Hercules, Panam has live music and viewing parties for each Eurovision event, including the Grand Final. The dress code is Loud and Proud, and glitter is a must.
Just outside Panam, you can glimpse the Floating Earth installation by artist, Luke Jerram.

Ooh Aah, Just a Little Bit of Eurovision - Mersey Ferries
Mersey Ferries are offering up a unique Eurovision themed cruises on the 5th, 7th and 10th of May. Each cruise will have singers belting out iconic hits from Eurovision legends throughout the decades, including ABBA, Gina G, Sonia Katrina, Conchita Wurst, and many more. There's even an Abba tribute act and drag queens joining in the party.

Eurovision Flower Crown Workshops with Booker Flowers
To celebrate Eurovision Booker Flowers and Gifts are collaborating with a number of Liverpool venues, to provide Ukrainian Flower Crown Workshops, also known as a vinok. Running from 26th April until 11th May You will make your own Eurovision Flower crown combined with a delicious meal.
The Vinok is a traditional Ukrainian Flower Wreath that was historically worn as a headdress by young women who were eligible for marriage. This tradition dates back to pre-Christian times, and it was believed that the headdress would protect young women from evil spirits.

Sophie Ellis Bextor comes to John Lewis
If you're looking to do some shopping, whilst getting some free Eurovision content, John Lewis in Liverpool One has you covered. Singer, Sophie Ellis Bextor, is set to host one of her 'disco parties in the kitchen' within the department store on the 11th May.
Elsewhere during the week the store will also welcome appearances from previous Eurovision contestants including Jemini from Britain 2003 and junior Eurovision competition finalist from Ukraine Evangelina Zamula.

Grand Final at ODEON
Grab your popcorn and Tango Ice Blasts for the Grand Final viewing of Eurovision over at the cinema. For the first time, the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final show will be broadcast live into cinemas across the UK, allowing fans to come together and be ‘united by music’ sharing in the incredible experience of celebrating Eurovision on the big screen.
