Celebrating Summer days are back in Liverpool with an exciting new roster of events
Three summer events, showcasing the best of the city’s culture, will return to Liverpool this August.
Created by Liverpool BID Company, Celebrating Castle Street, Celebrating Bold Street and The Last Day of Summer will see the streets filled with entertainment, food, drink, music and more over the course of three days.
First up is Celebrating Castle Street which will take place between 11:00-17:00 on Sunday 3 August and have everything from giant chess boards (tying into the British Chess Championships) to face painting and stilt walking. There will also be three live music spots in the area, offers from local food and drink venues, a showcase from Batala Mersey and Silent Disco Tours all day. A market will be held in Exchange Flags from Liverpool Markets with workshops, too.
Two weeks later, Celebrating Bold Street will take over the city on Sunday 17 August (also running 11:00-17:00) with a giant tortoise puppet providing entertainment alongside stilt walkers, face painting and even a tie die sock workshop. Music points will focus at the top end of the street with the Albert Schloss brass band back for special performances while the Bombed Out Church will be hosting a Makers Market with special Celebrating Bold Street offers.
And just before summer comes to an end, the city’s famous The Last Day of Summer event will take place on Saturday 30 August (11:00-17:00). In association with Royal Albert Dock, this family-friendly day will feature a full programme including a range of health and wellness free yoga and pilates classes complete with an accompanying sound bath at Princes Dock. WeSwimRun and Wyld Sauna will also be welcoming guests who fancy having a swim or giving a plunge pool a try. Live music can be enjoyed at Pier Head, as can circus skills workshops, canoe taster sessions from Canal and River Trust and bike rentals and workshops from Hype.
Those returning to school in September may wish to take part in the pencil case-making workshop while younger ones can be amazed by a bubbleologist.
