The specials menu is a chance for the chefs to show off ingredients in their prime, whether that’s peak seasonality or market fresh produce. It’s also a chance to indulge in some rather high end hawker food. Oysters, anyone?

The specials menu may be street food but some of it seems more leafy boulevard than litter-strewn alleyway. The grilled lobster tail with garlic butter, the steamed monkfish with chilli and lime and the fillet of plaice with carrot salad are a chance to enjoy some fabulous seafood at a fantastic street food price. Only £16 for lobster? Wow.

Other more homely specials are a real punch of East Asian flavour. You will love the cod cheeks with Thai basil and chilli, the masaman lamb and bamboo shoot curry and the stuffed chicken wings with homemade chilli tomato relish are a revelation.

The specials also allow the talented Tiger Rock chefs to take in influences from other countries in the region. The Mongolian vegetarian dumplings are so good, they deserve a permanent place on the menu.

If you’re wondering what’s for pudding, the specials menu also takes in some ice cream from Cheshire Ice Cream Farm with flavour profiles which match Tiger Rock’s eclectic South East Asian street food. The lychee, mango and coconut ice creams are the top trio.

It’s hard to believe, but Tiger Rock Renshaw Street now has even more to offer and the swish street food on the specials menu is at a price point that means you just can’t go wrong.
