Thirty years, thousands of shopping bags and racks of designer finds later – Cheshire Oaks celebrates its milestone birthday in style
In 2025, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet celebrates its 30th anniversary - three decades as the North West’s go-to for luxe labels at outlet prices, and the UK’s largest destination of its kind. To mark the milestone, Cheshire-based celebrity stylist Martine Alexander took us on a fashion time warp, charting the style highs (and occasional lows) of the past 30 years, all selected from pieces available at Cheshire Oaks today. Think 90’s cargo pants and racerback tanks to today’s love affair with animal prints and laid-back denim, it was a fitting tribute to a place that’s been dressing the region in designer pieces since 1995.

And the celebrations don’t stop there. To mark the occasion in style, Cheshire Oaks is launching a heartwarming competition in search of three generations of true Designer Outlet superfans - they want to hear the stories that make Cheshire Oaks more than just a place to shop.
The winning family will receive an unforgettable experience: a £1,000 gift card for each member, a personalised shopping trip with a professional stylist, and a family photoshoot to capture the moment. Find out how to enter here.
Opening its doors in Ellesmere Port back in 1995 with just 35 stores, Cheshire Oaks has grown into a retail giant. Today, it boasts 160 stores, and 19 food spots sprawled across 400,000 square feet. From the long-standing Nike outlet to newer Croc-shaped offerings and cult bakery Gail’s, it pioneered village-style shopping in the UK — blending American convenience with a distinctly British appetite for a designer bargain. On the topic of an Anglo-yank blend, the Queen even opened the site’s McDonalds in 1998.
At a time when high streets are struggling and next-day delivery reigns supreme, Cheshire Oaks has managed to keep the magic of in-person shopping alive. With exclusive deals that see shoppers arrive in their droves, their annual footfall equal to the population of New York to be exact, the designer outlet continues to prove that in-person retail therapy is far from dead.
