ROYAL themed baby photographs are becoming the next ‘must have’ for parents seeking to give their newborn the regal treatment.

Photographs of babies decked in crowns, lying on royal purple velvets or playing with miniature sceptres are this season’s essential for parents determined to show that their baby is every bit as majestic as Will and Kate’s.

Tiny crowns are leading the charge of accessories, with 63 per cent of parents taking baby photography including them on at least one photograph of their newborns. Sceptre rattles, orbs and Union Jack flags have also seen a surge in popularity.

Richard Mayfield, British Institute of Professional Photography’s photographer of the year and creative director of a photographers in Liverpool, said: “Trends in photography are constantly changing and reflect the popular culture of the time. As the country awaits the latest addition to the royal family, the excitement for all things Windsor is crossing over into photography.

It’s definitely become the ‘must-have’ portrait – whether it’s the baby wrapped in a Union Jack flag or wearing a small crown, these portraits are decking the walls of family homes across the country.”

The photography firm has now launched a dedicated newborn package, which offers parents professional photography of their little bundle of joy – complete with suggestions of royal-themed props that could be used.

Babies born on the same day as our future king or queen will be invited to celebrate their royal connection with a free newborn photoshoot at the photography firm. Parents should email the photographers to claim their free session.
