For when you're after a proper pint in a proper pub
In the 19th century Liverpool was the busiest port in the world, resulting in plenty of thirsty sailors, labourers and merchants all looking for somewhere to enjoy a pint or two. Unlike in so many other towns and cities Liverpool has a remarkable number of surviving pubs. It's better than anywhere in the country for such a concentration of classics including some of the most opulent drinking dens in Europe.
The Confidential Guides team have pulled together a list of some of the best pubs in Liverpool, perfect for pulling up a pew and whiling the afternoon away. If you’re looking for a cosy, traditional pub soaked in stories and history, this list is for you.
