Moose Coffee is to open its fourth venue in Hope Street.
The café, which offers an American brunch-inspired menu, will open in Federation House, following a refurb of the building. It takes the total of restaurants and cafes on the street to loads, at least 13.
Moose Coffee currently has outlets in College Road, Crosby, Dale Street and one in Manchester. The café will be taking a 1,350 sq ft outlet in the building, complete with outside seating area.
The unit, owned by Downing Developments, is currently being used as a show flat for the company’s new student accommodation development, The Electra, at the back of the building.
Nick and Kathy van Breemen, who own Moose Coffee, said: “It’s an exciting time for Moose and we’re ecstatic to be gearing up to open our fourth venue. Hope Street is a great location steeped in history and culture and it’s rapidly becoming the foodie epicentre of Liverpool, with some of the most exciting restaurants in the city within a 500 metre radius.”
Robin Ellis from Downing said: “Federation House is a building with a great deal of character just a stone’s throw from the Everyman Theatre and next door to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. It’s perfectly placed to attract passing trade.”
The first-floor of Federation House was, for a time, the Liverpool Design Centre and the building’s distinctive faux-Aztec cladding was designed by William Mitchell, who also designed the Catholic cathedral’s sculpted bell-tower and intricate main doors. The upper five floors of Federation House house the Liverpool Media Academy, a media, music and performing arts college, which let the 17,500 sq ft space from Downing last year.
