Go in looking cheesy and get 40 percent off the food

IF all Liverpool's restaurants and bars gave their customers a discount when they went in wearing questionable outfits they would be out of business in no time.

But anything goes at Christmas and the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse is feeling super generous.

For one day next week it is offering savvy diners the chance to stick their big red noses in the festive trough by offering a whopping 40 percent off the food at its Chapel Street operation.

The only stipulation is your whole party must wear Christmas jumpers and keep them on throughout the meal.

This being the era of post modern irony they ask that you wear the cheesiest jumper imaginable (not literally the cheesiest unless you are a clumsy eater). "So think reindeer, giant baubles, and Christmas puddings, you name it, nothing is off limits!" it says here.

This sort of thing

Mark Tasker, general manager at the Hotel Indigo, where the MPW Steakhouse is located, says: 'We want to spread a bit of festive cheer this Christmas with a fantastic one-day-only offer… and in the process, have a restaurant full of Christmas jumpers. Even our attentive servers will be joining in by donning their daftest pullovers. Take it as an early Christmas gift from us.”

D-Day is Thursday, December 14, and you have to book.  Turn up in your seasonal sweaters, boys and girls. and tuck in to steaks and stuff (very good last time we tried)  – including Chrimbo dinner with all the trimmings.

Imagine if Marco Pierre White actually knew about this.
