Speke will have its very own championship-level indoor and outdoor centre

Ignite Padel, a Liverpool-based business that opened its first site earlier this year on Queens Drive with six floodlit outdoor courts before opening another location at Cheshire Oaks in Ellesmere Port, is opening its third site this December (Monday 1).

This time, the site will consist of six indoor courts and four outdoor covered courts - so the game can be played the way it was intended. This will be the city of Liverpool’s first indoor site, dedicated to maximum performance for those serious about the fastest growing racquet sport in the world.

Stephen Broad - Partner at Ignite Padel says: “ We initially looked at building 12 courts in total but had a change of heart for several reasons. Firstly we wanted to be able to offer more viewing spaces for big tournaments with the FIP. FIP stands for the International Padel Federation, which is the global governing body for the sport of padel. They can now hold world level events at this site due to the mix of courts and spectator space.

We also want the local community to be able to use the centre as a hub for a range of different services. From community events to academy training. Our aim for this Speke site is for it to be a 24 hour site also. Initially when we first opened it would operate from 6am to midnight everyday. We want Ignite Padel sites to be at the heart of each community they are based in. Whether that be for sport or for community fun days and so on.”

Similar to the Cheshire Oaks Ignite Padel location, there will be a licensed bar and specialist coffee shop on site. Ignite Padel Speke will also contain a retail store where players can shop for racquets, balls and clothing. Like the other sites, Ignite Padel Speke will offer expert coaching from beginner to more experienced level.
