Hooters Liverpool is opening in New Zealand House
Opinion is still divided on the new Hooters bar opening in Liverpool but it's happening anyway. The world famous American restaurant chain will open its newest UK branch next month at New Zealand House on Water Street and has now begun its second phase of recruitment.
No experience is needed as a full ‘Hooters Way’ training programme is in place for all staff.
Hooters was granted a licence in February to open a restaurant in Liverpool city centre, despite concerns from ward members and residents. Mayor Joanne Anderson said at the time that the brand had "an infamous sexually objectifying and misogynistic environment".
Roles from kitchen porters to chefs are available as the 300-plus cover restaurant prepares to open in Liverpool. Hooters says that no previous experience is needed as you will be trained the "Hooters Way". A full team of experienced Hooters staff will fly over from the USA to run the training programme for all new staff.
Jim Ellis, general manager of Hooters Liverpool said, "Our initial recruitment was a huge success with over 700 applicants. We now look to fill some key back of house positions.
"No experience is needed as a full ‘Hooters Way’ training programme is in place for all staff. We invite applicants to apply now."
Hooters will be 40 years old in 2023 and now has over 400 locations worldwide. The American chain says that despite a misconception in the UK, the company has a 41% women and children customer clientele across the globe, showing that "the wholesome, glamorous cheerleader/girl next door brand is no way distasteful."
Rachel Moss, MD of Hooters Liverpool, said, "We are really looking forward to opening Hooters and giving the people what they want and need.
"Work has been ongoing on this project for over two years and the site is amazing. It also gives me great pride to be creating around 200 jobs, both full time and part time for local workers. We will be investing heavily in our staff from day one."
