Southport is all set for its annual Food and Drink Festival this weekend, promising Man v Food style eating contests, chef demos and foot-long twisted potatoes. 

The three day event, beginning Friday, will see Victoria Park taken over by special marquees. 

Southport has an abundance of fresh food from local producers, shrimps and asaparagus among them, mixed with creative and talented chefs, fine dining restaurants and more, all of these will be showcased over the weekend. 

Highlights of the festival will include:

Street food – from Ostrich Burgers, to Foraged food, Foot long twisted potatoes and Spanish Churros all available to enjoy al fresco in the park each day. 

Family fun – a special Children’s marquee housing a range of activities from taster sessions of Baby Ballet, with character visits from Flutterby the Fairy and Twinkle the Bear, alongside party hair and nails from Kelly Day Unique Hair.

Man v Food Style Eating competitions – test your belly against the force of brain freeze ice cream, a half metre fajhita or hot wings with competitions running across the three days. 

Chef Demonstrations – learn from local Southport chefs how to create Mexican, Spanish and British specialities, or even how to make the perfect ice cream with free demonstrations running each day.

Tasty treats – a charity cake sale on Sunday afternoon and see the results of the Great Southport Bake Off, and visit the colourful array of producer stalls selling everything from vegetables, to fudge, open all weekend.
