Zanna hospitality group are moving into the flagship Flannels

Four new hospitality venues will open this summer inside the new Flannels flagship store in Clayton Square. Opening in the former Owen Owen building, the new Flannels will fuse leisure and retail under one roof, the latest in a wave of former department stores to become developed into multi-purpose spaces.

Each of our spaces will offer something slightly different - from a work space to a late night party venue.

In 1924, Owen Owen moved from Audley House to Clayton Square into the grand building on Parker Street that was originally designed as a luxury hotel. The department store closed in 1993. It later became a Tesco Metro which shut its doors for the last time in January 2019.

Set over six floors, Flannels new luxury department store will open in June. Alongside fashion and streetwear, the Liverpool store will launch a beauty destination and an entire floor dedicated to leisure, activewear and sportswear which will include a Barry’s UK studio.

On the ground floor, Bacino will introduce modern Italian cuisine with an all day menu that incorporates brunch classics alongside pizzas, pasta, aperitivo cocktails, coffees and desserts.

On the sixth floor, three additional venues will open this autumn; a rooftop brasserie, bar and Pan Asian restaurant. With a separate entrance, these venues will open outside of store hours and have views across the city with space to dine, drink, and party into the night.

The brasserie will serve brunch, small plates and classic mains, alongside signature cocktails, coffee and wine.

The Pan-Asian restaurant will feature an open kitchen where diners will be able to watch chefs cook over the open flames of the robata grill and craft fresh sashimi. The new rooftop bar will serve modern and classic cocktails alongside a curated wine and beers list.

The F&B venues are operated by Zanna Hospitality Group, the brand behind some of the North West’s most popular eateries including Evelyn’s Café Bar, Gooey, Mughli Charcoal Pit, Les Deux Pizza Bar, Arlo’s, The Daisy and a number of Flannel’s most recent dining venues - Sienna Kitchen and Bar in Sheffield and Cafe Clo in Leicester.

Sax Arshad, MD of Zanna Group, said, “We’ve been looking to open in Liverpool for a while now, it’s such a vibrant city with an exciting food and drink scene that we’ve always wanted to be part of.

"This unique space has given us the opportunity to bring not just one but four new concepts to the city. Each of our spaces will offer something slightly different - from a work space to a late night party venue, they’ll be something for everyone and we can not wait to open the doors later this year and welcome the city in.”

Flannels and Bacino open on 23 June. For more information on Bacino visit @bacinorestaurants on Instagram.
