NO more queuing for a burger or dropping your chips at this year's Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

Deliveroo, the new service that brings restaurant food to your door, has got something a little more refined in mind when it goes out and about in Sefton Park this September.

Peckish punters at the annual weekender will be able to order dishes made by their favourite Liverpool venue at the touch of a tablet screen. Deliveroo will then relay the meals to waiting diners in a special pop up “living room” in the park.

Deliveroo fetches meals from local premium independent and chain restaurants, direct to people’s doors. But they don't let the grass grow under their feet. According to Deliveroo, demand for gourmet grub is booming in Liverpool and since launching last month its service has taken the city by storm

City centre dwellers are the main beneficiaries of all this as Deliveroo takes orders on behalf of a raft of familiar names, including Slim’s Pork Chop Express, Bakchich, GBK, Rookwood, Kasbah, Grilla, Raggas, Lunya and Lucha Libre.

Ellie Quigley, Deliveroo's northern marketing manager, said: “Our hub at the festival will allow visitors to enjoy the experience of Deliveroo, by having a meal served to them from the festival, in the comfort of the Roo lounge.

“On a wider scale, Liverpool’s food scene just keeps on going from strength to strength, and what we’re offering in the city means that you can enjoy the finest food the city has to offer without even getting out of your dressing gown.

“Offering our service at a food festival is a whole new challenge for us, and we’re looking forward to showing the people of Liverpool just what we can do with our technology and service!”

Liverpool Food and Drink Festival is now in its eighth year and this year runs in Sefton Park from on Sat/Sun September 19/20.
