Belzan at Home offers top quality essentials, local produce, take-out coffee and even cocktails
Sam Grainger, Chef-Director of top Liverpool restaurants Belzan, Cinder and Madre, and his team, have come up with a way to make sure that their loyal customers can still dine in style.
This week, they launched Belzan at Home where they have transformed their Smithdown Road restaurant into a venue selling quality and organic and free range meat, sourced from Lakes specialty food, fresh local produce and a revolving list of their favourite wines.
We’re determined to come through this and help others do the same
Alongside this there’ll be mixed veg boxes (for one £8/for two £12/for four £20), fresh bread, house-made sauces, pasta, marinades, cocktails and local beers. They will even be offering takeaway coffee and their signature negronis. Some items will change week-to-week depending on seasonality and availability and weekly specials will be available.
View this post on InstagramWE’RE BACK!!!!!! (Sort of) Introducing BELZAN DELI & WINE STORE Hello world 👋🏻! We’ve been working away behind the scenes to figure out a way of getting through these insane times. We’re missing you all A LOT and wanted to devise a way of filling that belzan shaped hole in all our bellies. So, from Thursday this week we’ll be opening up the doors and selling tons of fresh, local produce, quality, organic meat, amazing wines, take away coffee, meal prep (like Marksies dine in for two but MUCH better) and cocktails and beers. We’ll also be stocking a bunch of stuff from our friends at @thisismadre. If you know of any other local producers looking to sell their wares, tag them below and we’ll see if we can make it happen. Product list is on the website and phones will be open from Friday for collection orders. See you soon x

“We would love to see you all soon,” says Sam, “for now we must evolve to help us survive. We wanted to find a way to help to bring Belzan back to life and help bring great food and drink to your home.”
You can even order a Belzan Breakfast for two (£10) featuring extra thick bacon, Toulouse sausage, and Stornaway black pudding.
Belzan At Home will be opening between Thursday-Saturday 10.30-6pm. Customers can place their orders for collection during opening hours and the order will be ready in one hour or at a requested time. Payments will be taken upon collection using contactless card payment.
The deli will be stocked with plenty of the more interesting items you can’t find in the supermarkets (as well as eggs and flour) and, thanks to the pre-ordering system, you won’t have to queue for hours. “We will be stocking all fresh and local produce,” says Sam. “Everything else food related will be made by ourselves in house or made by our good friends.”
They have also created a take home range called Madre by Madre, which includes a wide range of things to spice up your lockdown larder including signature salsas, bags of totopos and chicarones, heritage corn tortillas (£5 for approx 20) and marinades for chicken, steak and pork.
The Made by Belzan range includes signature specialities such as Belzan baked beans, truffle aioli, cauliflower, beer or seaweed butters as well as restaurant quality chicken stock and beef dashi and desserts including chocolate tart, tonka bean rice pudding and rhubarb crumble.
As well as being able to get all of your essentials, each week Belzan at Home will be offering three different dine at home meal-kits. They will do all the messy bits of preparation - each element comes vacuum-sealed. Diners just have to follow the simple instructions on the enclosed recipe card. “Sadly we can’t come and do the dishes,” says Sam, “but we would if we could!” Meal packs are £20 for two people and anyone ordering Belzan At Home meals can get 10% off selected matching wines.
“After weeks of uncertainty for the business, we want to give ourselves the best possible chance of coming through this and bring some normality back to our lives” says Sam. “Liverpool’s hospitality sector has spent years turning itself into one of the countries culinary hot-spots and is now at serious risk of losing many great bars and restaurants. We’re determined to come through this and help others do the same to make sure that we pick-up as close to where we left off as possible.
“We know lockdown has been really hard and people are missing restaurants. Hopefully this will give you slice of Belzan at home, hopefully we put a smile on a few peoples faces and fill some bellies.”
This week’s Belzan at Home meal prep kits are:
Meal 1: 12oz rare breed pork chop, Tonkotsu sauce, grilled peach, Szechaun carrots.
Meal 2: Wild mushroom Gnocchi: Potato gnocchi, wild mushrooms, mushroom duxelles, wild garlic pesto.
Meal 3: Lemon and thyme chicken supreme, ratatouille, Agro dolce onions.
