Friday nights just got interesting
The team behind Stockport’s award-winning Foodie Friday events (pictured above) are to bring their fun food and music operation to Huyton Village throughout the summer.
The event, which takes place on the third Friday of each month, won “Best Event” at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards in 2016, and has fast become an unmissable event for local people.
Thousands of people flock to Stockport's Market every month to experience the combination of street food, craft ales and live music. Now organisers have teamed up with Knowsley Council to transform Derby Road with this exciting family friendly event.
Dates confirmed so far are Friday 15th June, Friday 20th July and Friday 17th August, from 4.30pm – 8pm.
“This is a really exciting opportunity,” said Joe Barratt, one of the event’s organisers. “We are looking forward to working with Knowsley Council to deliver an unmissable event for the people of Huyton. Our Foodie Friday events in Huyton Village will feature a number of street food traders, as well as an outside bar and a stage for live music.”
Food stalls lined up for the first Huyton event include Pizza Peddlers, SomTam Street, ArtiSam, Hungry Little Critters and Crepe Chateau. They will be joined by two local food businesses, both based in Huyton Village; Bexley’s Craft Butchers, who will offer a selection of cooked meat dishes, and the Body Branch, who will be selling cold pressed juices.
“Our Foodie Friday events are all about celebrating the independent spirit of the local community,” added Joe. “We’d encourage any local people, street food traders or performers, charity or community organisations who might be interested in getting involved, to get in touch.
The launch of Foodie Friday in Huyton Village marks the beginning of a period of significant improvements for the area, with a number of developments planned over the coming years to enhance the retail, leisure and housing offer in and around the village centre.
I hope people support this event and make it a huge success
Leader of Knowsley Council, Cllr Graham Morgan, said “I’m delighted to welcome Foodie Friday to Huyton, providing an opportunity for people to get together and sample good food, craft ales and live entertainment.
“The event supports Knowsley Better Together – bringing people and organisations together and providing an opportunity for family and friends to socialise. I hope people support this event and make it a huge success.”
Free car parking will be available on the Archway Road car park.
