Expect food, drink, gigs and an L19 cube... whatever that is
Excitement levels are building ahead of the full lineup announcement for Leeds International Festival on 15th March.
But we can reveal right now that the festival village for this year will be held at the iconic Tetley building. A collaboration between Leeds Business Improvement District, The Tetley and developer and real estate firm Vastint, is aimed at creating the festival’s most impressive home yet.
The Village will house an impressive 20 m sq structure called The L19 Cube, surrounded by food and drink pop-ups. It will host gigs, conferences, talks and family friendly events, with big names on the bill already announced including Frank Bruno MBE, Matt Haig, Professor Alice Roberts, Dr John Cooper Clarke, Tommy Cash, and Crazy P. More will be revealed in the coming weeks.
It won’t all be furrowed brows and serious musings though – the lineup announcement will include a range of family-friendly activities in a new area called The Discovery Zone, which will host a range of freebies for all ages. And with Rewire Leeds, All Day Hey! And BlaqueXplosion already confirmed as early events at Leeds International Festival this year, it looks like it could be the most diverse lineup yet.
This year is the third year of Leeds International Festival, which will run for ten days from 2nd-12th May. Tickets are on sale for all confirmed events right now via the website. And if you want to read more about 2019’s exciting lineup, take a look at our first-look article, by Jenessa Williams.
