A ticket gets you access to over 100 whiskies, as well as talks and masterclasses
Leeds Whisky Festival has been gearing up for its launch on Saturday 9 April, with over 100 whiskies already added and more to come. Joint sponsors Nikka, Starward, Woodford Reserve, Slane, and Port Askaig will all be in attendance, alongside major names like Lagavulin, Bowmore and Mackmyra.
We’ll be bringing a host of whiskies from all over the world
The event will be held in the iconic Corn Exchange building with a choice of 12-4pm and 5-9pm sessions and savoury food from hip Chinese restaurant Man’s Market - think dim sum, udon noodles and fried rice amongst other things, ideal booze soakers. Meanwhile, Ooey Gooey Bakes will be firing out Woodford Reserve brownies for those who like their pairings a little sweeter.
A £30-£40 ticket covers all your samples, as well a tasting glass, several talks, and masterclasses from nine different distilleries. Australian Sponsor, Starward’s masterclass is called “Starward Whisky: Whisky done different” and will feature wine casks, a few limited releases, and even a ginger beer cask-finished whisky.
If you aren’t a whisky fan, it would admittedly make this an odd event to attend, but there will also be a fully stocked bar with a selection of craft beers and cocktails available.
Speciality Brands’ whisky ambassador, Nathan Shearer, said, “Here at Speciality Brandswe’re absolutely thrilled to be taking part in the inaugural Leeds Whisky Fest, we’ve always worked very closely with bars, restaurants and retailers here and it’s great that there is now an event for us to come and talk to more people about our wonderful products. We’ll be bringing a host of whiskies from all over the world and introducing people to some of the fantastic producers that we’re lucky enough to work with including Nikka, Michter’s, Elixir Distillers, Amrut, Kavalan and Waterford.”
Tickets are still available for both sessions but selling fast. If you want to find out more and book your place, visit the Rolling Stone Events website
