This looks like one for your bucket list...
Boss man from your local chicken shop had better start blessing you with an extra wing if he wants to keep you sweet, because dedicated fried chicken shop Absurd Bird has announced plans to open up its first Northern restaurant in Leeds.
The casual restaurant is inspired by culinary traditions of the US Deep South, as well as the “colours and flavours of the London Street Food Movement”, and currently has venues in London’s Spitalfields and Soho, as well as Bath, an Exeter’s Queens Street Dining.
The “Absurd” part apparently comes from a “desire to celebrate difference in all its craziness, its colours and shapes and sizes, but with a sense of humor and fun” so their own-recipe fried chicken is just as likely to be served with Southern US classics like biscuits, mashed potatoes, and gravy as it is with waffles and maple syrup, or in an ice cream cone with sriracha mayo.
A recently-added section of their website reads “Get ready for Absurd Bird Leeds! We’ll be landing in The Toon this Summer & are already on the lookout for talented & passionate people to join our team”
Erm, The Toon?...
Either way, I don’t fancy the sound of waiting 9 months for my fried chicken and waffle fix, so lets hope their timing is as crap as their geography...
