The famous 150-year-old landmark site will be open once again, this time under new ownership

Wavertree Town Hall, set on Wavertree High Street, has been a local Liverpool landmark for a century and a half and, thankfully, the famous site will be opening once again this Spring, under new ownership.

Despite closing its doors in October 2025, the venue has now been taken over by one of Liverpool’s most experienced leisure group operators who are investing in the site and bringing it back to life.

The external appearance of this beautiful Grade II listed building - which was designed by a local architect, John Elliot Reeve, and completed in 1872 - has the regal, grand charm and class of a typical Town Hall. Internally, the original features will all be kept.

The front area of the town hall will be a cosy, traditional-style pub with an open fire, serving up hearty, locally-sourced food. There will be no TV’s in this area, but the larger back bar will show all major live sporting events and feature dart boards. Sundays will be a key day at the Town Hall with Sunday lunch served across both of the ground floor spaces. Completing the refurbishment will be the upstairs function lounge; the largest of the three areas with a total capacity of roughly 100 guests, making it a great location for private parties and gatherings.

Nicola Halton, Business Development Manager for the Harrison Group said: “We are well into our refit of this site and look forward to bringing this much loved old building back to life.

“Wavertree Town Hall is such a stunning building and to be given the chance to take up this project as custodians is a real privilege. Works will be complete and the site ready to re-open later this Spring. The site will also create around 20 new full and part-time jobs in our sector when we open.”
