Lionel Richie comes to Liverpool this autumn with his first European tour dates since 2009, and nearly 25 years since his first solo shows took place.
The 63-year-old former member of 1970s smoothsters The Commodores comes to the Arena on November 10, which sounds like a long time away, but if you are old enough to remember when Ritchie dominated the charts with lurve ballads like Three Times a Lady, the weeks and months should be racing by, by now.
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland are all on the the Ritchie roadies' sat nav.
He has shaped popular culture, it says here, adding that his music has served as the soundtrack of several generations around the world.
The tour announcement coincides with the release of ‘Tuskegee’ his new album on 12 March, in which Richie has re-recorded 14 of his hits as duets with the likes of Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson and Pixie Lott.
Richie’s career has seen him rack up sales of more than 100 million albums, 22 top 10s, five Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards from virtually every major entertainment organisation.
His live shows, say promoters, deliver a mix material from a 30 plus year career from the memorable early days of the Commodores, to the 1980s piano ballads and more recent up tempo pop material from the noughties.
All sway the one way, but don't fall over.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 5 March at 9:30am from the Arena box office. Easy? Go figure.
