NORTHWICH'S most famous export, The Charlatans, are to play their nearest place for a conker fight.
They are the third and final headline act confirmed to perform in Delamere Forest, Cheshire, as part of the Forestry Commission’s annual Forest Live concert series this summer.
Paloma Faith and Blondie are already lined up and sold out and this gig is set to go the same way. The Charlatans last appeared at Delamere, packing the enchanted wood out, in 2007.
Since their 1990 breakthrough hit, The Only One I Know, The Charlatans have been around the block a few times and continue to inspire young bands.
Looking spookyFrontman Tim Burgess said, “This is local gig for the band which makes it extra special for us and also we hope for our fans. Last time we were at Delamere Forest it was a great night and we’re looking forward to playing there again.”
2013 sees the band return to their Big Mushroom studio to begin working on demos for a new album and also the release of Mountain Picnic Blues DVD, a documentary on the band’s Tellin' Stories LP from its creation in 1997 to the 15th anniversary edition of the album.
Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission bringing music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship. Income from the concerts is spent on improving the woodland for both people and wildlife.
