THE Coral have been revealed as one of the main headline acts for the 2016 Liverpool Sound City.

The show, which will take place next Spring Bank Holiday on the North Docks, will be the band’s first in Liverpool for five years and organisers say they are expecting a standout performance and an emotional experience for both the band and hometown fans.

The Coral’s singer, James Skelly, said: “Sound City is a great festival and the setting is just incredible. We’re really looking forward to the headline slot and being back in Liverpool. It’s going to be a very special show.”

Dave Pichilingi, Sound City CEO, added: “The Coral have always been on our wish list and we are absolutely delighted they have chosen Sound City for their return. We’re expecting some big scenes when they close the Atlantic Stage on Sunday night, facing out across the water to their Wirral home.

“They are part of the DNA of this city and occupy a very special place in our hearts. It’s going to be a landmark show and one not to miss.”

Sound City – one of the UK’s most vibrant and culturally significant music events – takes place on 28 & 29 May 2016 at the Bramley-Moore Dock, near to the Tobacco Warehouse. The Coral will play the Sunday night show. Other headliners are yet to be revelaed.
