Expect Thai spirits, spicy snacks, nitro cocktails and boozy slushies
Thaikhun (pronounced tycoon, which translates as 'your Thai') has just opened its latest branch in Liverpool.
Launched in Manchester in 2014, the brand has since spread across the country with new branches as far as Southampton, Aberdeen, Cambridge and Newcastle. For their first ever opening in Liverpool, however, the chain is going for something a little bit different.
TKBar, or Thaikhun Street Bar, in Liverpool ONE is a new cocktail bar inspired by ‘the spirit of Thailand’. The venue itself is a recreation of a traditional Thai street scene, stuffed with mementos and hand-picked bric-a-brac.
It will host a number of weekend events, such as live music and DJ sets and a selection of games like Beer Pong, Ping Pong, Giant Jenga will be available behind the bar.
The cocktail list has been developed around a range of authentic Thai spirits, as well as a range of frozen cocktails, alcoholic slush puppies and ice-cream smoothies. A bar snack menu is also available, including a number of small dishes inspired by the country’s famous culinary scene.
According to Kim Kaewraikhot, founder of Thai Leisure Group and curator of the Thaikhun Street Bar, “[the bar] is the first of its kind in the UK and we are so excited to bring a touch of Thailand to the cocktail scene in Liverpool.
"The team have worked incredibly hard to create something that not only houses great tasting unique cocktails, but something that is also visually individual and quirky.”
Thaikun Street Bar opens from 12pm until late, every day of the week at Unit 5-6 Kenyon Steps, Liverpool ONE, L1 3DF
