The six-week pop-up will showcase over a century of police heritage and artifacts

This month, Metquarter has welcomed an educational pop-up museum in partnership with Merseyside Police.

The Merseyside Police Museum is located on the ground floor of the centre and is now open to the public, Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, for a six-week period.

The free museum offers visitors an immersive insight into the history of policing over the years, showcasing the evolution of police memorabilia spanning from the pre-World War I era to the present day. Designed as an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages, the museum features historic uniforms as well as police equipment including batons and handcuffs.

An interactive custody desk will provide visitors with a hands-on opportunity to explore the inner workings of a booking-in process and gain insights into day-to-day policing procedures.

Sgt Paul Shelley (Merseyside Police) said: “We are proud to bring this pop‑up museum to the heart of Liverpool, giving our communities the chance to explore more than a century of policing history. Our heritage is an important part of who we are, and this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see how policing has evolved while also celebrating the people who have served Merseyside over the years. We hope visitors of all ages will enjoy the experience and gain a deeper understanding of the role policing plays in keeping our communities safe.”
