Neighbourhood restaurant from Andrew Sheridan quickly gathering acclaim

OXA has been awarded two AA rosettes in recognition for its 'higher standards and consistency'.

The neighbourhood restaurant, run by award-winning chef Andrew Sheridan alongside head chef Jake Smith, has gained AA recognition after only 10 months.

Since opening in May of last year, the Oxton restaurant has gathered praise and acclaim, not least from us here at Liverpool Confidential.

While already an entry in the prestigious Michelin Guide, OXA now joins Andrew's Liverpool restaurant, 8, in proudly sporting the AA rosettes.

Two AA Rosettes recognises ‘excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency’.

Sheridan said: “We are so pleased for Jake and the team achieving two AA Rosettes – they are turning out some stunning food. This is the recognition they deserve.”

Situated on Rose Mount, formerly the location of Restaurant Fraiche, OXA boasts a menu featuring delectable dishes such as glazed short rib of beef with shitake and XO, and cornish mussels with beer and miso.

In her January review our writer Harley Young said: "Andrew Sheridan’s OXA puts this Wirral village on the map as a hidden hotspot for expertly-crafted food. It might sit across the water from prestigious sister venue Restaurant 8, which you’ll find near Liverpool’s effervescent Cavern Quarter, but don’t be fooled - the newcomer is by no means the poor relation.

"The same careful consideration, painstaking craft and lovingly selected produce that Sheridan and his team puts into making a visit to the 16-cover restaurant spectacular is adopted here. Just in a more casual, free-flowing setting."

Congratulations to Andrew, Jake and all the OXA team for bagging this much-coveted acclaim.
