Elephant and Viking owners have exciting plans for the city’s Hub Alehouse
Mission Mars, the bar and restaurant group behind The Elephant in Woolton and The Viking in West Kirby, has just announced plans to take over Hub Alehouse & Kitchen inside the grade II-listed Casartelli Building - where where Hanover Street meets Duke Street.

The new 170 cover restaurant and bar will be the twelfth venue in the Mission Mars portfolio and the second in Liverpool city centre, following the opening of Rudy's (reviewed here) on Castle Street last year.
Speaking to Confidential, Roy Ellis, the CEO of Mission Mars, said: “We are delighted to have acquired The Hub in Liverpool. It is a fantastic site and we are looking forward to working with the existing team and investing in all areas of the business over the coming months.”
Ellis co-founded Mission Mars in 2015 with business partner Neil Macleod, with whom he also founded the national Revolution bar chain. Last July, the company secured a £10m investment from the Business Growth Fund to expand their hit Albert's Schloss concept - a restaurant, bar, club and live entertainment venue on Manchester's Peter Street.
The group's food menus are overseen by executive chef Simon Rimmer, of Sunday Brunch fame.
Mission Mars also operate Trof, Deaf Institute, Albert Hall and Gorilla in Manchester.
