Following a successful run at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival for the second year running, Liverpool born production Shout! The Mod Musical is transferring to Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre in May 2016. Recent LIPA graduate, Max Emmerson is bringing his 5 star 60s musical to the Liverpool venue for a two and a half week run opening on May 20th 2016.

Shout!  takes the audience back to the heady days of the swinging 60s and celebrates the music, dance and fashion of those psychedelic flower-power days of love and peace.  Max Emmerson has re-created George and Lowenstein’s non-stop party atmosphere but also their story of five women who face the challenges of growing up and changing over the decades.  Audiences will laugh, cry and sing along to chart-topping hits from 60s greats like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Lulu as they travel with the gorgeous girls on their journey of life.

After receiving six 5 star reviews in Edinburgh, the Royal Court are opening their doors to the 60s themed musical. Chief Executive Kevin Fearon said, “We saw the show at LIPA last year and we were keen to see how it developed in Edinburgh. We were confident enough in the cast and creatives that we made a small investment in the show’s Edinburgh run and now we want to show it off to Liverpool audiences. I think that this is going to be a real hit!”

Shout! features a cast of 6 LIPA acting graduates, as well as other LIPA graduates forming the band, creative and technical teams. Filling the role as The Voice of Shout! is Liverpool acting and comedy legend Michael Starke – best known for playing Sinbad inBrookside.  Not only that but Michael’s daughter, Hayley Hampson - most recently seen in the Royal Court’s Mam I’m Ere and soon to feature in Pharaoh ’Cross The Mersey  - plays one of the girls in the show!

The other confirmed cast are: Emily Chesterton, Miriam O’Brien, Evangeline Pickerill and Katie Tyler. Francesca Goodridge will Direct, Simeon Scheuber is the Musical Supervisor and Andrew McKay is Choreographer.

Since the passing of the late Cilla Black, Hayley is honored to sing, ‘You Are My World’ by another Liverpool legend. “Cilla is a Liverpool icon and someone who really shaped the face and sound of the 60s, performing her song in the show is our tribute to such an inspiring lady and her incredible career”.

Max Emmerson is delighted to be taking the show to The Court: “We had the Fringe audiences laughing, crying and even dancing in the aisles, and we can’t wait to bring such a feel good 60s show to Liverpool”.
