BOLD ST is a bit of a world on a street, with its international markets and restaurants. Who doesn't feel like limbo dancing into News From Nowhere with a cucumber and doing a Ken Dodd and shouting "The martians have landed!"?
This Sunday it capitalises on its globalness with One World Festival Liverpool. It seems Bold Street Festival is no more.
Instead, the street will feature two stages either end of the street with artists performing at both throughout the day. In addition there will be a children’s area focusing on circus skills, run by the Black-E, as well as walkabouts and impromptu performances.
Black EaglesThe line-up:
Big Wow – A Liverpool/Australian group bringing Austrangels – beautifully crafted Angel wings adorn these loving creatures complete with Aussie hats and accents. Unlike the Angels of Doctor Who, they go round the public checking that everyone is ok.
Black Eagles – Tanzanian acrobats performing to African and Caribbean music, a mixture of highly complex acrobatics and dances.
Café con Leche – A Latin/Cuban Ensemble performing music from Latin American and the Caribbean.
Curtis Watt – Acclaimed Liverpool performance poet.
Cusan Theatre Company – Children’s walkabout and street theatre performances from Colombian theatre.
Flamenco Liverpool – Wonderful Flamenco and Bulerias culture in Liverpool.
Fools Rush In – French/Spanish street performers who take cycling to a new dimension!
Japanese Troupe – A Japanese dance company performing traditional Japanese dances.
La Bomba – Women’s Drum Troupe from Merseyside, playing Candombe and Bombo Drums from Uruguay, Chile and Portugal.
The Bouncers – 12 foot high ‘ friendly’ bouncers will be patrolling the street pointing people in the right direction.
There will also be performances from Liverpool’s Irish, Chinese, Caribbean and West African communities.
The FREE festival will begin with Bold Street’s traditional Clean Sweep at 11.30am. Performances will continue till 6pm.

Dock jazz
IT'S set to be a balmy weekend, perhaps the last of the year, so that means being outside.
Cue jazz and blues all day long at Albert Dock.
Merseycats are doing their last fund raiser at The Anchor Courtyard on Saturday.
"We have had great weather and a great time there throughout the summer but we don't want to push our luck," they say.

The Walton Centre will be opening its doors this weekend to give hundreds of visitors the chance to explore the world-leading expertise of the UK’s only specialist neurosciences NHS Trust first hand.
All are welcome to the Trust’s free annual open day which takes place at the hospital on Lower Lane, Fazakerley, on Saturday, 28thSeptember from 1pm until 4pm.
From seeing state-of-the-art equipment, interactive stations offering the chance to try your hand at treatments, and the chance to grill our specialist clinicians on life at the Trust, there’s something for everyone, it says here.

There’s fun for all the family with a poetry recital and creative writing sessions from legendary Liverpool wordsmith Levi Tafari – a former patient – a children’s entertainer and Fazmatazz choir offering a musical accompaniment to the afternoon.
