Let's get physical
THE only festival of its kind in Europe, Physical Fest brings the world's best local, national and international movement and physical theatre artists to Liverpool in an exciting nine day programme of events, workshops, taster classes and performances.
This year, the festival opens with a double bill by Tmesis and Taciturn at the Unity Theatre.
The latter - “the North West's finest all female dance company”- are presenting present their new piece, Worst Case Scenario, while Tmesis tell Plato's beautiful ancient Greek story of the origin of love, twin flames and the reason why we search for our other half. Phew.

Hooky
What a Hook up
IT is the week of the Mancs. Peter Hook tonight, while next week (Weds) sees music photographer Kev Cummings, at Leaf, talking about his new book of photos chronicling the rainy city.
But back to tonight when Hooky, the bassist from Joy Division and New Order comes to town, with his latest backing band, The Light.
The idea is to honour the outstanding work of his first band and the undoubted genius of the late Ian Curtis by giving people the opportunity to hear both of Joy Division's masterpiece albums, "Unknown Pleasures" and "Closer", live and in their entirety. Backed by his new band, The Light.
Hooky first played Unknown Pleasures at the Factory club in Manchester on May 2010, before taking the show on the road throughout Europe, Australia/NZ and the United States.

TEN acts, five minutes, one gong.
There is nothing quite like the power of deciding someone's fate with a whimsical heckle or a cheer. Tonight, the Lantern Theatre will be staging something called “A Rush of Laughter”, in other words, a gong show.
Audience participation is obviously vital – so no show, no show.
“Gong Master” Adam Rushton will be on hand to beat the gong when the audience say so. Those acts lucky enough to survive five minutes without being booed of stage will go through to the cheer off, giving them one final chance to impress the audience.
You decide.

BobsBobs your uncles
Signed to 808 Records, Bob, Bob, Bob and Bob are an old Peel favourite back doing the rounds. They describe themselves as Billy Bragg meets Slade and have provided support for bands like the Undertones and other post-punk heroes
Bob, Bob, Bob and Bob only do one gig per year and this year it’s at Revolver. And there are also cheap-as-chips drinks offers all night to help you flush down their music and that nothing is left, well, bobbing.
