A turn for the worse
Camp and Furnace is the place to be tonight, with food, booze and the chance to get up with a live band and do a turn. Like karaoke, but better, or worse.

Two of C&F''s biggest nights are going head to head - Food Slam Friday vs. Rockaoke in one massive mash up.

The Food Slam will be in The Furnace with extra lashings of street food, cocktails and live DJs, while in Camp you can practice your air guitar and Jagger swagger to a LIVE rock karaoke band, complete with stadium projections. They know everything 

But if you can't make it tonight, don't worry, there's a chance to do the music bit next Thursday.

Say organisers: "The last Rockaoke event was so much fun we've decided to do it twice in May, first up on Friday 10th of May and then again on Thursday the 16th May. Then every third Thursday thereafter."

The band know everything from Purple Rain to Eye of The Tiger. How about Je ne Regrette Rien? Who knows, but by tomorrow morning you may do.

Stall or nothing
Pick up some arty/crafty bits and trinkets this weekend with a sejourn around windy Chavasse Park.

Stalls In The City, The Liverpool One arts and craft beano, is back for the summer.  Unique homewares, original prints and photography, handmade beauty products, glassware, upcycled accessories, textiles, all that scented candle stuff, jewellery, stationary and much more.

Buy from more than 20 of the North West’s finest artists and designers in a series of fairs on the second full weekend of the month from May to September.

IF wandering around an open-air flapping market facing the Mersey sounds a bit too much, or you've got too much tat of your own already, go undercover at Paddy's Wigwam for a giant car boot sale.

Bring all your unwanted clutter and sell them in the secure and underground car park of the Catholic Cathedral, or fill your own house up with gloriously cheap foot spas, pasta makers and other gadgets.

Car Boot Sales normally take place on the second Saturday in each month.

The Al Wood Nine

Jazzy days
JAZZ lovers need to head for Southport this weekend where they will be treated to a weekend of gigs with 11 award-winning musicians headlining the Southport Jazz Festival.

For the first time the event will run alongside a CAMRA beer festival, so it's a no-brainer really.

The Southport Jazz Festival has been a firm favourite in the events calendar since 2001, attracting international and national artists from all different jazz styles, it says here.

The Atkinson is the newly developed regional cultural centre for the arts and will be home to the headline gigs for the festival. Acts programmed for the weekend include James Morton's Pork Chop, The Al Wood Nine, The Nicola, Farnon Quintet, Gabby Young and the Other Animals, The Bateman Brothers with special guests Spats Langham & Enrico Tomasso, Go Go Penguin, The Joe Stilgoe Trio, Terry Seabrook's Silent Movie Jazz, Kairos 4tet and James Morrison with the Swingshift Band.

Meanwhile, there's lots of free music at the "Jazz Festival Village" at the Town Hall Gardens, Lord Street. Grab a deck chair, sit, relax and watch Southport being brought to life with the different styles jazz of concerts throughout the weekend.
