NEW Brighton ice cream makers Caffe Cream joins a top flight of restaurants in the final countdown of the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.
The seaside venue joins several big names across the water - Lunya, Delifonseca, London Carrige Works and Malmaison Brasserie - in the Taste section of the awards which are designed to recognise the best in tourism that the area has to offer over the last 12 months.
Caffe Cream has also been nominated in the Sustainable Tourism section of the competition.
As for the rest of the awards, hundreds of entries have been whittled down to 50 across 13 categories. The final will be held St George’s Hall on May 22.
Finalists for Bar of The Year are the Hub Alehouse and Kitchen, in the Casartelli Building, the bar at the Malmaison and The Wro, on Wirral.
Judges include Peter Avis, manager of Richard Branson’s Babylon restaurant at the Kensington Roof gardens, in London; Hamish Anderson, head sommelier and wine buyer at The Tate, Helena Egan, Head of Destination Marketing Sales for TripAdvisor and Sara Wilde-McKeown, chair of Liverpool City Region’s Visitor Economy Board and also managing director of Paver Smith, the PR agency.
Liverpool One are the award’s headline sponsors while category sponsors include Virgin Trains, Viva Brazil, the Hoteliers Association, City Central BID and Commercial District BID, ACC Liverpool and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
