The city centre park will pay homage to Liverpool’s iconic symbol

Planning applications have been submitted for a brand new play area at Chavasse Park, paying homage to the city’s iconic symbol; the Liver Bird.

Works on the 1,010sqm play area, which will be called ‘The Kingdom of the Liver Bird’, are expected to start in early 2027 and feature a number of fun and exciting elements including a Liver Bird Tower with a tube slide, castle, trampoline area and even a zipline.

The space has been created to suit a range of ages and abilities with inclusive elements, as well as interactive and sensory play features, throughout to ensure all children can have fun. Musical elements, busy boards and play boxes will all be integrated into the design so kids can explore the space in different ways.

Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “We’re excited to share plans for this major new play space at Chavasse Park, which will further strengthen Liverpool ONE’s family offering and create even more opportunities to spend quality time together outdoors. ‘The Kingdom of the Liver Bird’ has been designed with local families in mind, encouraging fun-filled experiences inspired by a symbol that sits at the heart of the city’s identity.
