Festive listings for December, including comedy, gigs and club nights
OH, my friends. It's been a long hard year but now it's Christmas. Yes, it's Christmas. Thank God it's CHRISTMASSSSSSS. We've made a list and checked it twice and come up with a cracking selection of festive feels, Boxing Day bangers, and New Years Eve parties to end all parties. Don't stay at home watching Jools' Hootenanny - your disco needs you.

LAUGHTERHOUSE COMEDY | EPSTEIN THEATRE | 10 DECEMBER
Enjoy this special Christmas show with some legendary home-grown comics, alongside Live At The Apollo stars and acts from the international comedy-circuit. This stellar festive line-up features Tom Stade, Mick Miller, Justin Moorhouse and Chris Cairns.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS | PHILHARMONIC HALL | 17 - 23 DECEMBER
The Phil’s traditional annual feast of festive music, old and new. There’ll be classic carols and readings from host, Classic FM’s John Suchet. And all the way from Austria, with a voice as sweet as glühwein, baritone Thomas Weinhappel joins conductor Ian Tracey to serve up a stocking-full of good cheer.

LIVERPOOL DISCO FESTIVAL | CAMP & FURNACE | 17 DECEMBER
Featuring Graeme Park and Morgan, LDF returns for a big Crimbo disco. Your favourite DJs from Hustle, Crackle, Mouvement and JDisco complete this funky festive line-up.

CHRISTMAS ACOUSTIC SESSIONS | CLAREMONT FARM | 18 & 21 DECEMBER
Get your gang together and head to Strawberry Field teepees for a night of Christmas sing-along classics, fabulous food from Hardy’s Catering and a special guest appearance. Tables are available in two / four / six and there will also be some unreserved tickets where you can just enjoy the evening without having to book a table.

Ginificent Productions bring this much loved classic to life on the very stage where Charles Dickens himself graced numerous times to recite his books. Chapter by chapter, journey through one of the greatest stories ever written, in the stunning Concert Room.

SILENT SLEEP | FUTURE YARD | 22 DECEMBER
Not strictly festive this one, but Silent Sleep does sound a bit like Silent Night, so we’ll go with it. A special gig to celebrate the long-awaited vinyl pressing of Silent Sleep's second album Stay The Night, Stay The Morning Too. Support comes from Puzzle + special guests.

CHRISTMAS JAZZ SPECIAL | MA BOYLE'S | 24 DECEMBER
Getting everyone in the festive mood, pianist and singer Rob Stringer sings all the festive classics for a cosy Christmas Eve jazz brunch. Pre-booking advised to see out 2021 at Ma Boyle’s with some jazz-infused magic.

The Kazimier collective’s latest club night concept is a journey into a sprawling arcade of games, karaoke bars and dance floors this NYE. Leisure Land will include performances from Wanton String Band, Harsebax, and Dogshow. There will be an exclusive world premier of “Jacques of All Trades” and a special guest TBC in the Berlinesque basement club Substation, as Invisible Wind Factory sets the pace for the new year ahead. Miss this one at your peril.

To see out the end of the year, 909 converts the Box Yard into a fully covered, heated space ready for a New Years Eve party to remember. The WAV club next door will also be in action to continue the party into the early hours. Line-up includes Maschinefunk, Stuart Hodson, Al Clarke, Samuel Lamont, Jamie Cooper, Steve Arnold, Fidge & Kev Odger.

For this NYE extravaganza, PINS promises the mother of all parties across the entire venue, with live entertainment, freeplay table games, dancers, DJs and a runway show. Oh, and candy floss too. Sweet.
