SOMETIMES it occurs to you that you really should get a bit of culture into your life. Go around a gallery or absorb a bit of art.
But that sometimes is often in the evening. And in this country, inevitably, that's when most museums and other cultural wandering spaces are shut.
In Liverpool you can't move for a gallery or museum and once a year, LightNight gives you the chance go on an arty rampage through places where the sun don’t normally shine.
This Friday (May 17) Liverpool will be throwing open the doors of its internationally renowned museums, galleries and heritage sites in a springtime celebration of the region's arts, culture and heritage.
More than 130 free cultural events for people of all ages.
Andy wall-hole: 'Do you remember this photograph of me?'
This year your own image can be part of a giant Warhol-esque projection at the Pier Head.
‘Do you remember this photograph of me?’ is a large-scale light projection created for LightNight by new media artist Andy McKeown.
Everybody is invited to submit a photo portrait to be part of the gigantic photo wall that will be presented as pop art posters on the George’s Dock Building.
It’s easy to submit portraits (a new photo or from the family archive) and you can do it all from your phone, visit this link to submit.
A new FREE LightNight iPhone app enables visitors to have the whole LightNight programme in the palm of their hand to create their own customised trail to follow live on their phone. The TicTocTourist app can be used year-round for tourists, impromptu visitors and residents alike.
Merseytravel are offering FREE hop on hop off buses that will loop the city centre from the very precise 5.23pm to help visitors see even more of the festival. Threshold Festival will keep the buses buzzing with live performance from some of the best local musical talent including We The Undersigned, Dominic Dunn, Bolshy, and Thom Morecroft.

9.45pm – Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, St James Mount, L1 7AZ - Enjoy a drink in the Café till 10pm, followed by a walk through the Candle–lit Labyrinth in the awesome surroundings of the Cathedral till 11pm.
10.45pm - Fragments Light Projection on The Oratory, Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, St James Mount, L1 7AZ – The Oratory will be wrapped on two sides with kaleidoscopic projections of the Cathedrals dazzling stained glass.
Baltic Creative11.15pm - Memory Lame at Static Gallery, 23 Roscoe Lane, L1 9ND – The Double Negative and Deep Hedonia offer a big social featuring DJs, party shorts and mismemory karaoke.
Deep Hedonia pays tribute to the art of the karaoke and individual song perception with interactive installation ‘Ken Lee’s Karaoke’. A selection karaoke classics will be reinterpreted through wordplay and poor Youtube transcriptions to provide alternate lyrics for Light Night’s late crowd to party and sing along to.
12.30pm - LOOK/13 Launch After Party at Camp & Furnace, 67 Greenland St, L1 0BY – To round off your LightNight, LOOK/13 invite all for their celebratory shindig to mark the launch of the city’s biennial International Photography Festival.
